Private Events

Create Unforgettable Play Experiences with Private Popup Events!

Rooted in Play offers a limited number of private, fee-for-service play experiences for schools, organizations, and families looking to bring child-led play into their own space.

These events are grounded in playwork principles and look very similar to our free Popup Adventure Playgrounds. The difference is how they’re funded and scheduled.

Before reaching out, here’s what’s important to know.

What these events are:

Private events are temporary play spaces designed for child-led, open-ended play.

We bring loose parts and materials that invite creativity, collaboration, problem-solving, and experimentation. Children choose how they engage. There is no schedule, no rotations, and no required activities.

Trained playworkers are on site to support play, observe, and manage risk thoughtfully, without directing or controlling how children play.

What these events are not:

These events are not a good fit if you’re looking for:

  • Structured games, stations, or guided activities

  • A party host or entertainer

  • A timeline of events or group instructions

  • A drop-off program with adult supervision provided by Rooted in Play

  • A fully “hands-off” experience for caregivers

Private events vs. free community popups: What’s the difference?

Our free monthly Popup Adventure Playgrounds are grant-funded and take place in specific locations based on funding requirements.

Private events are:

  • Fee-for-service

  • Scheduled by request

  • Hosted in spaces secured by the requesting group

Both experiences follow the same philosophy and playwork approach. The difference is the funding structure—not the quality or intention of the play.

The host is responsible for securing the location and any required permits. We’ll help confirm whether a space is a good fit once we know more about your setup.
